Ft Jonny Gee

Dynamite vocals to swanky sizzling swing with glamour, style and pizzazz.

Canadian singer, Dom Durner has travelled all over the world spreading his love for music amongst the masses. Having recently settled in London he’s bringing his vintage swing and Gypsy jazz project to Le Que, along with those Italian lads, The Gypsy Dynamite! Completing the line up, and holding the boys to time and stride, will be our ever popular bassist, Jonny Gee.
The Gypsy Dynamite have enjoyed a 2015 residency at Le Que, entertaining hundreds of our customers, friends and staff with their lively, energetic and fiery compositions of Django Reinhardt, Chick Corea and Caravan Palace, as well as their own take on the genre with original compositions. This culminated in Le Q Records recording our 9th album with Dynamite’s Quartet back in November 2014 which so far has been received well.
Jonny Gee is a well known face at Le Que, as one of the original Allstars, who’s continually in demand as one of the UK’s most versatile double bassists. He has performed, recorded and broastcast with many top artists and groups all over the globe, including Ravi Shanker, Antonio Forcione, ZUM, English Touring Opera, Joanna Eden and The Sixteen!
The music is in safe hands with these guys leading the celebrations!

“Great Gypsy Jazz bar with good food too”

We are fans of gypsy jazz and were told about this club by someone at a Django fest in New York City. This is a terrific little gypsy jazz club. We saw the “Hot Club Two”, a fine gypsy jazz duo, playing equal measures of Django standards plus general swing standards done in a lively Gypsy style.

The place is charmingly decorated and laid out and we enjoyed our meal quite a bit, my wife got the steak and I got the aubergene parmesan; both were much better than you’d expect for a small jazz club.

Recent party testimonial June 2015;

We would like to thank the staff at QuecumBar and recommend them for an excellent event, our wedding party on the 13th June this year! The food was great, the service first class, nothing was too much trouble, everyone was impressed. The music both live and recorded sounded good, the live artist Ava Golding + Trio were fantastic, the garden looked really impressive lit up at night. A great venue for a party or reception, thanks again, Ian + Nadia Dennes.

Recent party testimonial April 2015;

“Le QuecumBar is a fabulous place to hold a party. The atmosphere was terrific with a truly convivial buzz.  Steve was incredibly helpful in the planning and he and his staff were superb on the night. The food was perfect and Radio Daze(the band) made the evening go with a swing.” Katherine

Many thanks for a great bday bash! Just thought I would drop you a quick line to say thank you for the other night and making the effort with the evening. Everyone was and has been raving about what a great location it was, how good of an atmosphere and importantly to my tight arsed friends how well priced!  Hopefully you will be seeing a few of them there soon and no doubt I will be back soon with someone in tow. Seb

BBC2 – “Honourable Woman” Location Shoot

“The Honourable Woman television production for BBC2 used QuecumBar as a location for a days filming in 2013. The location worked well, especially as it provided an interesting space not found in other restaurants and bars. It is also useful as it is closed during the day in the week and easy to black out”. Rupert Bray

“Singers and Musicians are some of the most driven, courageous people on the face of the earth. They deal with more day-to-day rejection in one year than most people do in a lifetime.

Every day, they face the financial challenge of living a freelance lifestyle, the disrespect of people who think they should get real jobs, and their own fear that they’ll never work again.

Every day, they have to ignore the possibility that the vision they have dedicated their lives to is a pipe dream.

With every note, they stretch themselves, emotionally and physically, risking criticism and judgment.

With every passing year, many of them watch as the other people their age achieve the predictable milestones of normal life – the car, the family, the house, the nest egg.

Because musicians and singers are willing to give their entire lives to a moment – to that melody, that lyric, that chord, or that interpretation that will stir the audience’s soul.

Singers and Musicians are beings who have tasted life’s nectar in that crystal moment when they poured out their creative spirit and touched another’s heart.

In that instant, they were as close to magic, God, and perfection as anyone could ever be. And in their own hearts, they know that to dedicate oneself to that moment is worth a thousand lifetimes.”

– David Ackert, LA Times
